Theater Unspeakable (TU) is offering a six-week course where participants will explore the bouffon clown and grotesquerie. The course will build towards the creation of original grotesque and bouffon characters and scenes. Along the way, participants will learn about masks, physical characters, satire, mockery, subversion, audience relationship, and ensemble devised theater. The weekly classes will culminate in a final presentation open to the public.

TU’s Artistic Director Marc Frost will lead the course. Marc studied with disciples of Jacques Lecoq at the London International School of Performing Arts and has been teaching physical theater in the Chicago area for the past 8 years. As the founder of TU, he has directed and produced several original devised, physical theater shows and toured them around the country for thousands of young audiences. Marc will occasionally be joined by long-time TU company members who will also add their voices to the intensive at key moments.
